Wild child is the passion project of Keri Travis. She is a kindergarten teacher, entrepreneur, and mother. She grew up on a farm in Canada, which bordered a wild forest, and has always loved the magic and wonder of childhood. She has traveled the world, seeking the most beautiful toys and gifts for children, and is delighted to have a new home at The Old Mill District!
I have a passion for natural toys and clothing. Keeping a child’s world as beautiful and aesthetically pleasing as possible is important to me. We are giving our children their first view of the world, and we want something that is worthy of appreciation. From soft bamboo and organic cotton clothing, to their first teething toys, I feel like the warmth of natural materials truly matters. I always wanted the best for my children, and I want to share that with others!
Opening a business during a global pandemic may seem intimidating, but I am so hopeful for the future! I may be a fatal optimist, but I think it’s a great time to see
beautiful things pop up! More than ever it is a great time to support local businesses. Our little community is passionate about supporting local, and so am I! There is exceptional love between local business owners, we all want to support each other and help each other thrive. While we’re talking about local businesses, I would also like to remind everyone to support our local restaurant owners, as they are being hit the hardest.
Bend can pull through this. It’s only up from here!
I absolutely love having children and their families come in and see them overjoyed to find something they love. How wonderful to have a job that brings so much joy!
I feel like Bend was just waiting for a natural children’s store. I have had amazing feedback from customers. Old Mill in particular needed a children’s store to round out their amazing offerings. I have felt welcomed with open arms by the Bend community! WIld Child carries natural, unique, handmade and European toys, gifts, books and clothing. They have many local artists featured, as well beautiful handmade things from Keri herself! You will definitely find many things you have never seen before. It is a carefully curated selection of the most beautiful children’s things in the world. Wild Child is expanding it’s mama section with baby carriers, diaper bags, maternity basics and natural mama and baby care.
We will be offering two mama meet-ups. Tuesday morning for expectant mothers, and Thursday will be for new mothers. This will be a socially distanced discussion group with mama-to-mama support. Ongoing craft classes will also be offered. Reservations required.
Wild Child is located at 680 SW Powerhouse Drive between Regal Cinemas and Kona Mix Plate at Old Mill.
